Let us help determine when care is right for you.

Early Treatment/Phase I (Children)

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child’s initial orthodontic visit occur by age 7.

This early visit allows Dr. Rea to evaluate and monitor your child’s growth and development.

If Dr. Rea is concerned that early treatment will be recommended, she will set up periodic monitoring appointments to monitor your child’s growth.

Occasionally, early interceptive (Phase I) treatment is recommended to prevent serious issues from developing and in an effort to make future orthodontic treatment less complex.

Initial consultations and all periodic monitoring appointments are complimentary.

Adolescent Treatment (Teens)

Orthodontic treatment is most effective in the growing, adolescent patient between the ages of 9-14. As such, this is the best and most common time to begin orthodontic treatment.

During your complimentary initial consultation, Dr. Rea will evaluate your child’s growth to determine the optimal time to begin treatment, if necessary.

Adult Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is for patients of all ages! It is never too late to achieve your dream smile! In fact, about 25% of our orthodontic patients are adults!

We have various treatment options including traditional metal brackets, clear ceramic brackets, or Invisalign®. Dr. Rea is happy to discuss the best option to fit your lifestyle at your complimentary consultation.

"Dr. Rea and her staff are very friendly every time we go. My son and I are both going to Rea Orthodontics for Invisalign treatment. I can’t believe the responsibility my son has shown with taking care of his aligners and we have both seen such a noticeable change in our teeth after such a short time!! It’s been such a positive experience!"

FAQs

How long is orthodontic treatment?

Treatment length depends on the complexity of your orthodontic treatment needs. Treatment times typically range anywhere from 6-30 months.

Do I need a referral?

NO! No referral is needed to schedule a complimentary consultation at our office. If orthodontic treatment is recommended, we require a recent (within 6 months) cleaning and exam by a licensed dentist. All restorative treatment (fillings, etc) should be completed prior to starting treatment.

A great smile begins with your complimentary consultation in Ottumwa or Oskaloosa.
